Mayor Frank Melton and his two former bodyguards did not get the financial help they were seeking Tuesday from the city to pay their attorney fees from a 2007 state trial.
And they likely never will.
Council member Margaret Barrett-Simon was absent from Tuesday’s City Council meeting when members deadlocked 3-3 on paying the fees. But if the issue comes up again – as one councilman says it will – she said she’d vote against.
Melton and Councilman Kenneth Stokes said they will continue to fight for the money.
