NFL wild about Nutt’s unique offensive formation

Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt wasn’t in a very good mood most of Sunday, and why should he have been?
His Rebels had self-destructed against Vanderbilt the night before in Oxford, as the Commodores forced six turnovers in a 23-17 victory.

Then Sunday night, Nutt flipped on the day’s NFL highlights, and he came across the Miami Dolphins’ stunning 38-13 win at New England.

It made me smile,” Nutt said.
Nutt was smiling because the Dolphins destroyed the vaunted Patriots and their genius coach, Bill Belichick, using the Wildhog/Wildrebel formation. It’s the same scheme that Nutt used so successfully at Arkansas and is employing now in his first season at Ole Miss.
Playing the roles for the Dolphins of former Arkansas stars Darren McFadden and Felix Jones were former Auburn star Ronnie Brown and former Texas Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams.
Brown played McFadden, acting as a quarterback in the shotgun formation and taking direct snaps. Williams was the man in motion toward the formation.
