One of the three candidates has pulled out of a state Supreme Court race in south Mississippi.
The secretary of state’s office says Paul M. Newton withdrew. That leaves only the incumbent, Oliver Diaz, and one challenger, Randy “Bubba” Pierce, in that contest.
Judicial candidates in Mississippi run without the party label.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says the state Board of Election Commissioners approved Newton’s request to withdraw on Monday.
