The Hattiesburg American Editorial, 9/16/8
Hypocrites, thy names are Haley Barbour and Delbert Hosemann. Not that we should be surprised. In politics, it’s all about who is most deft, and fast, in manipulating the system to gain any advantage.
It’s a numbers game, and with the GOP in danger of losing several more U.S. Senate seats, the last thing Gov. Barbour wants to see is the Mississippi seat formerly held by Trent Lott go to a Democrat.
Since the time of Lott’s resignation last December, Barbour has done whatever he could to ensure a Republican victory. (Unfortunately, we are jaded enough to suspect a Democratic governor would have done the same.)
