First pick-off goes long way for Willis
Patrick Willis hadn’t scored a touchdown since high school, but when he took off after catching a tipped pass for an interception, he looked like he didn’t need to stop for directions. His 86-yard return for a touchdown in the third quarter was the longest by a linebacker in 49ers history.
“I didn’t get my first interception in college (Mississippi) until my last game,” he said. “It was on a tip as well. I had to go up and fight with the teammates to get it.”
It was the 49ers’ first interception of the season – they didn’t even get one in the preseason. Seattle’s Matt Hasselbeck tried to hit wide receiver Billy McMullen, but cornerback Walt Harris tipped the ball high in the air.
