Games aren’t scripted and what it says on paper may not always be the outcome. (Stupid New York Giants). But Tom Brady going down with a torn ACL does set up a Hollywood type season for Matt Cassel, who hasn’t started a game since high school.

Here at ASU though, we are having our own Cinderella type year (or does that phrase only work for the NCAA tourney?), as we are 2-0 on the year. The clock hasn’t quite struck midnight but already we have to face another evil stepsister in Southern Mississippi.

Last year, ASU lost 16-10 to Southern Miss. Golden Eagle kicker Justin Estes was 3 for 3 on field goal attempts (21, 29, 37) and running back Damion Fletcher had 141 yards on 21 attempts with a TD.

Golden Eagles Offense

Southern Miss is coming off a 27-13 loss to Auburn on Saturday. Redshirt freshman Austin Davis was 33 of 50 with 268 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions against Auburn.
