A homeowner won’t be charged for shooting an alleged burglar Monday morning in the latest case of a Jackson resident using the Castle Doctrine to protect himself and his property.
Lorenzo Moore, 18, of Jackson was shot in the arm after he attempted to break into a home in the 600 block of West Hillsdale Drive in west Jackson, police said.
Jackson police spokesman Lt. Jeffery Scott said the homeowner was sleeping when he heard a noise made by the intruder at 9 a.m.
“The homeowner retrieved a weapon, went to investigate and witnessed an individual trying to break into his house,” Scott said.
