Croom puts faith in Carroll as starting QB
STARKVILLE — Say goodbye to the two-quarterback system at Mississippi State.
For now.
MSU coach Sylvester Croom said Monday that sophomore Wesley Carroll will be the team’s quarterback in its Saturday night home opener against Southeastern Louisiana, “and we’re going to win, lose, sink or swim with him,” Croom said.
“(Tyson Lee) may play, but in a backup capacity,” Croom said. “Until the game is in control, Wes will be out there.”
The public profession of confidence in Carroll, a nine-game starter last season, was an about-face for Croom from some 36 hours earlier. Speaking moments after his team’s 22-14 loss at Louisiana Tech, he said he “didn’t see that much of a difference” between the quarterbacks.
