Houston Nutt era begins with Memphis-Mississippi
JACKSON, Miss. — The butterflies don’t start till a couple of days before the game for Houston Nutt.
No, it’s those questions, so many gnat-like questions, that have encroached on the new Mississippi coach’s sleep in the weeks leading up to his debut Saturday against Memphis.
“You’re always going to bed thinking, ‘Did we cover that fake punt enough? Did we cover the onside kick enough? Did we cover this special situation?'” Nutt said. “I always ask the coaches to give me the weirdest situation you have ever encountered in your life.”
There are more questions than usual for Nutt. After a decade at Arkansas, he’s wearing the blue and red and trying to resurrect a Rebels squad that had just 10 wins in the last three seasons and none in the Southeastern Conference last year.
