PARRISH ALFORD:Can Ole Miss excitement translate into wins?
OXFORD – There’s a lot of excitement around Ole Miss football right now, but will that translate into wins on the field?
The highly scientific prediction here is that the Rebels snap a four-year streak of losing seasons and get back in a bowl game for the first time since 2003.
Here’s how they’ll do it.
Memphis: An interesting early matchup with an injury-riddled Ole Miss defensive line against an experienced yet inconsistent Memphis offensive line. For the second time in three years this game features the debut of a transfer from College of the Sequoias. Rebels bottle up Arkelon Hall, and Houston Nutt keeps Ed Orgeron’s Memphis streak alive. W, 24-19. (1-0).
Wake Forest: A ranked opponent on the road is a tough act for Week 2. A sack and a fumble could make the difference, and this is where the Rebels miss defensive stars Peria Jerry and Greg Hardy. L, 26-21 (1-1).
