Offense crucial for U-M

ANN ARBOR — So many changes, so little time.
There’s Rich Rodriguez, pumping up the tempo, talking about all the freshmen he might use, all the running backs and receivers he might play, all the quarterbacks he might need.
There’s The Associated Press Top 25 poll, the one that doesn’t list Michigan in its preseason rankings for the first time in 23 years. Hey, what happened to the good ol’ days of bloated expectations?
There’s defensive end Brandon Graham, grinning into the Sunday sun, raving about the 25 pounds he’s lost, talking about all the strange new sights he’s seen.
“It’s fine that we’re not ranked because we know what we’re capable of,” Graham said. “We’re in the best shape of our lives. Everyone talks about our defense, but I see our offense in practice every day. I don’t think teams are gonna be ready for that speed.”

Speed? At mighty monstrous Michigan?
