Croom has high goals for Dixon
STARKVILLE, Miss. — By almost anyone’s standards, Mississippi State running back Anthony Dixon’s 2007 football season was one for the record books.
He ran for 1,066 yards, set a school record for attempts in a season (263), and tied Jackie Parker’s 56-year-old school record of 16 touchdowns in a season when he scored the winning TD in the Bulldogs’ 10-3 AutoZone Liberty Bowl victory over UCF.
A great year, right?
“When you look at the film, he (Dixon) left at least 500 yards out there — at least 500 yards,” Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom said. “The first time we ran an option play in the bowl game, he should score. He and the safety are one-on-one, and coming from 12 yards deep the guy makes the tackle for a 6-7 yard gain. He’s got to beat that guy, there’s nobody else behind him.”
