Sen. Thad Cochran, the state’s senior U.S. senator, said Thursday that he supports fellow Republican John McCain for president, but he also believes Democrat Barack Obama has attributes that would make him a success in the White House.
Cochran, who at times has questioned McCain’s temperament, said McCain’s experience and military background would be of great benefit in today’s war against terroism.
“Nobody is better suited to make those decisions (concerning national security) than John McCain,” Cochran said during a meeting with the Daily Journal editorial board.
