Snoop Dogg, Miles get chance to rap

BATON ROUGE — LSU Coach Les Miles’ final speaking engagement of the summer was Wednesday before the Baton Rouge Rotary Club, and there was a surprise visitor.
Rapper Snoop Dogg, in town for a concert, befriended Miles and made an appearance at the meeting.
Miles said his son, Ben, is a fan of Snoop Dogg’s, and Miles said he now has admiration for him.
“The guys around him are former athletes, very clean cut, and he (Snoop) runs a youth football league,” Miles said Sunday.

Snoop Dogg, aka Calvin Broadus, is a California native and big fan of Southern Cal.
“I just wanted to give my love and support to Coach Miles,” Snoop told the audience while wearing an LSU jersey. “I met him last night.”
Miles said he hasn’t heard whether his new friend has gained him any credibility with his team, which reported for fall practice Sunday.
“Most of the guys were out of town,” Miles said. “I don’t know if they necessarily know. I asked (defensive end) Kirston Pittman. He really didn’t understand the question at all. I said, ‘Did you think you were the only rapper I knew?’ and he (Pittman) said, ‘No, I figured you knew (defensive tackle) Marlon Favorite.’ ”
