Tebow does more than play football

The afterglow surrounding Tim Tebow still is stunning to watch.
Be careful, though, not to get caught staring into the orange and blue hues of Tebow’s uniform or the dazzling whites of his smile because you’re likely to get trampled by the “paparazzi” hot on his trail.
On Wednesday, the Florida quarterback was the marquee attraction on day one of the annual Southeastern Conference Media Days at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Ala.
The left-handed quarterback followed his coach, Urban Meyer, and was the first player to speak to the media horde, which quickly was caught up in the hoopla.
Tebow didn’t disappoint. He flashed a smile that would make a dentist envious. He praised his teammates and his coaches. He praised the Gators’ 2008 opponents and the rest of the SEC.
But Tebow did more, and will continue to do more. He also talked at length about his missions trips earlier this year to The Phillipines, Croatia and Thailand.
It has been more than seven months since the Florida quarterback won the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore and was recognized as college football’s best player.
Unfortunately, Tebow’s season didn’t end on as high a note. He threw for three touchdowns and rushed for another, but was only 17-of-33 passing in a 41-35 loss to Michigan in the Capital One Bowl.
