MSU to have a more open offense, Croom says

HOOVER, Ala. – Mississippi State football Coach Sylvester Croom promised here on Wednesday on the first day of the Southeastern Conference preseason media days that his team will have a more wide-open offense.
“Our offense is definitely going to open up,” Croom said. “We can put more on our quarterbacks, and we have more speed at wide receiver. We can go vertical downfield more and take our shots.”
Though State went 8-5 last year and won the AutoZone Liberty Bowl 10-3 over Central Florida, the Bulldogs ranked last in the 12-team SEC in total offense (297.2 yards per game) and second to l ast in scoring offense (21.5).
