JUSTIN GRAVES: And the storylines begin in the SEC

It almost looked like the red carpet at a blockbuster movie premier.
Hundreds of excited fans were lined up on both sides of the walkway as security escorted the man of the hour — accompanied by an entourage — to a room full of reporters.
But this wasn’t a red carpet event. It wasn’t even a celebrity event — unless you just happen to be a rabid Alabama football fan.

Instead, this was the environment Alabama football coach Nick Saban created as he walked into the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover for SEC media days last year.
Most people in the country may not view Saban as a celebrity, but the Crimson Tide faithful definitely treated the football coach like a rock star when he arrived for media days.
Saban probably won’t receive the same type of treatment this year. So don’t expect an overflow crowd of Crimson Tide fans to fill the Wynfrey Hotel’s lobby this year.
As the biggest story in the SEC, Saban stole the show a year ago. But with other big stories in the conference this year, Saban will have to share the limelight with a few others this time.
