Receivers ready to stand out

A season ago, the Ole Miss football team’s most pleasant surprise was its wide receiving corps, but inefficiency at quarterback may have kept the Rebel receivers from reaching their full potential.
Heading into the 2008 season, first-year head coach Houston Nutt is sitting pretty as his inherited team returns all of its receivers from last year.

Most importantly, the team possesses Jevan Snead, who has the potential to be the first legitimate quarterback that Ole Miss has had since Eli Manning suited up in Oxford.
Leading the way for the Rebel receivers is senior Mike Wallace. The speedy, 6-foot wide out led the team in receiving yards with 716 yards last season. The New Orleans, La. native was also tied for first on the team with six touchdowns.
Shay Hodge, a 6-foot-1 wide receiver, is back for his junior season. The Morton native led the team in receptions a year ago with 43 for a total of 593 yards. He also hauled in six touchdowns.
While Wallace is the big playmaker, Hodge seems to be the most consistent receiver on the team as the ball was thrown his way often on third down last year.
