Breaking down the season: Wake Forest

Ole Miss will hit the road the second week of the season for Houston Nutt’s first away game as the Rebels new head coach.
Nutt wasn’t around in 2006 when Ole Miss had scheduled a home and home series with Wake Forest as a “breather” out of conference game. After all, the Demon Deacons had finished with back to back 4-7 records in 2004 and 2005. As it turned out, what the Rebels had scheduled was the eventual ACC champions for 2006, a team that finished 11-3 on the season.
Ole Miss had its own set of problems that season, almost blowing a lead to Memphis, getting thumped 34-7 at Missouri and then losing by 17 points at Kentucky. Adding insult to injury in the 2006 Wake Forest game was the Rebels lethargic play in Oxford that was delayed because of a thunderstorm and playing before a half-empty stadium while mustering only 237 yards of offense in a 27-3 loss.
