Glenn Guilbeau: LSU baseball surges to top

BATON ROUGE – LSU will be the talk of the town in the epicenter of the Southeastern Conference this week – Birmingham, Ala.
LSU will arrive in Hoover – an upscale suburb of Birmingham – for the SEC Tournament as the hottest college baseball team in the country with a mountainous 16-game winning streak, including a record four consecutive, three-game SEC sweeps.

The Tigers open the tournament at 10 a.m. Wednesday against South Carolina, which it just swept a few weeks ago. If they win, they play Thursday at about happy hour against the winner of Wednesday’s second game between Florida and Vanderbilt. LSU fans, who have not seen their Tigers play in the SEC Tournament since 2006, will be taking early lunches Wednesday and early exits Friday.
