Tornado sirens: Lack of accounting abysmal

One reason the Federal Emergency Management Agency has rejected Jackson/Hinds request for a disaster declaration could be that Hinds County officials can’t add and subtract.

How else can one explain the fact that although Hinds County Emergency Operations maintains the Jackson/Hinds system of tornado warning sirens, it cannot say how many don’t work, or how often or when the agency inspects or repairs them?

With such lousy accountability, who can be surprised county officials apparently can’t count the county’s losses, either.
