Some lawmakers say they might cobble together a Medicaid budget, but it could have a built-in deficit that will have to be plugged a year from now.
“It’s just a small hole, and we’ve got the money to back it up with,” said House Appropriations Committee Chair Johnny Stringer, D-Montrose.
Stringer and House Speaker Billy McCoy said Wednesday they believe the House and Senate will be able to resolve most of their differences over Medicaid by the time the 2008 session ends Saturday.
