Lawmakers have still come to no verbal agreement on the state’s estimated $5 billion budget, Senate Appropriations Chairman Alan Nunnelee told his colleagues this morning.
Senators agreed unanimously to suspend the deadlines for filing appropriations and revenue conference reports, giving them more time to deliberate.
“Putting these bills together is a lengthy process. Staff tells me it can take as long as 24 hours,” Nunnelee, R-Tupelo, said, adding that an agreement is near.
He said he hopes to begin considering conference reports Saturday, which means legislators will likely work through the weekend.
