Pro-amnesty network angry with Roger Wicker

Pro-amnesty network angry with Mississippi senator

Senator Roger Wicker has drawn the ire of the “open borders” lobby with his opposition to amnesty for illegal aliens.

The Spanish-language network Univision recently asked Senator Wicker (R-Mississippi) to return a $1,000 contribution its political action committee had made to his campaign. Pro-amnesty Latino groups had complained that Univision should not have given Wicker the contribution because of his opposition to illegal immigration.

Wicker, who said he was unaware of Univision’s request for a refund, says campaign fundraising is unfortunately a major part of what a candidate has to do.

“I’m a member of the Border Enforcement First Caucus here in the United States Senate. And basically our position is that it’s unrealistic and foolish to talk about any comprehensive immigration reform when we can’t even show that we can enforce the borders and enforce our employment laws as they exist now. So let’s do those first,” Wicker contends.

Unbeknownst to Wicker, his campaign returned the Univision contribution last month.
