President Bush is expected to sign an economic stimulus bill Wednesday that will give thousands of Mississippi taxpayers checks of at least $300 to $600.
But Rep. Gene Taylor, said the distribution of billions of dollars is a bad idea.
The only Mississippi lawmaker to vote against the plan, Taylor said be based his opposition on fiscally conservative principles.
“It would be stealing $150 billion from Social Security and the Medicare trust fund, and there’s no plan to pay it back,” Taylor said.
