To navigate uncertain budget waters, continue the ongoing recovery from Hurricane Katrina and make progress on health and social issues, a strong sense of balance will be required in state government.
That balance must address partisan concerns to be sure, but it’s more than that. There must be a balance between the disparate philosophies of Democrats and Republicans and a focus on defining just what constitutes critical needs in the state over the next four years.
