The John Arthur Eaves Jr. campaign and the Haley Barbour campaign claimed victory after Thursday’s gubernatorial debate – no surprise there.
But it wasn’t artifice. Both camps meant it. Each thought their guy won, perhaps an indication of how far apart these two candidates are in… well, everything.
And the candidates each galvanized their campaign themes regarding the other: Barbour’s theme is Eaves has no plan. Eaves’ is Barbour can’t be trusted.
