One name that cropped up early in the prognostications over who would try to succeed retiring 3rd District U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering was former top Thad Cochran aide and current USDA undersecretary Dr. Mark Keenum. Keenum has been in the thick of the running for the last two presidential vacancies at Mississippi State University and would have strong backing from many MSU alums if he made a congressional bid.
But Keenum has confirmed that he won’t seek the office.

US and China take a step back from sky-high tariffs, agree to pause for 90 days
The U.S. has agreed to drop its 145% tariff rate on Chinese goods by 115 percentage points to 30%, while China has agreed to lower its rate on U.S. goods by the same amount to 10%.
