Texas developer Ann Arnott said she’s ready to build houses for Jackson police officers, firefighters and teachers in and around the downtown area.
So far 10 officers have applied for consideration for the homes, which Arnott said will be built on property throughout the city as officials turn it over to her and other developers.
State law allows city officials to turn vacant land over to developers who will put it back into use. Mayor Frank Melton has said for months he plans to give developers property on which to construct houses.
