Jackson among the most dangerous in U.S.

By: Magnolia Tribune - June 11, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 6/11/7

A dramatic one-year jump in crime placed Jackson among the most dangerous U.S. cities in almost all major crime categories.

The FBI’s preliminary Uniform Crime Report for 2006 showed Jackson had a 42 percent increase in violent crime and a 10 percent increase in property crime. A Clarion-Ledger analysis of that data shows Jackson among the top 10 cities in the nation in rape and burglary, top 20 in robbery and total property crime, and top 25 percent in murder, total violent crime and auto theft.
