Mississippi’s historic problems with poverty are well known, and policy-makers have wrestled with the overwhelming issue for decades. It is often considered unsolvable. However, there are some things that can be done.
Four out of 10 Mississippians are struggling to keep their heads above water. While they are working, sometimes multiple jobs, the low wages make it difficult for them to provide the necessities of life for themselves and their families. It is a constant struggle.
