Jury doesn’t indict suspect in Metrocenter gunfire

The Jackson man accused of firing a gun inside the Metrocenter mall last year no longer faces a felony charge.

And whether Denarius Pryor faces a misdemeanor charge is left up to the Jackson Police Department.

Pryor, 19, was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling after police said he fired inside Metrocenter on May 7. The bullet went into the ceiling in the food court area of the mall but no one was injured.

Hinds County District Attorney Faye Peterson confirmed Thursday that the case was presented to a grand jury, but Pryor wasn’t indicted.

There was no felony on which he could be prosecuted, Peterson said.
