Hearing delayed for ex-convict in shooting case
A detention hearing for an ex-convict believed to have sold Omar Hampton the stolen gun used to kill Jackson Police Officer Thomas Catchings was delayed Monday afternoon amid concerns about the man’s mental competency.
The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms & Explosives arrested Jessie James Powell, 49, of Jackson last week and charged him with being a felon in possession of a firearm and a felon in possession of a stolen firearm.
