Update: Jackson’s Illegal Dumping Sites

First, the bad news. Percy Simpson Drive in Jackson, the former Moonbeam Street, is a dumping disaster. Trucks, couches, tires, TV’s and trash. The owner of one piece of the property wouldn’t talk on camera, but he says he was recently hospitalized for a stroke. When he came home, he found the unsightly mess.

The owner’s son put up a ‘No Trespassing’ sign because of the dumping. The owner says the city has come out to take pictures of the trash.

And the nightmare on Elm Street in Jackson we first told you about a few weeks ago has gotten even worse. A section of the landscape is littered with couches, chairs and desks that weren’t there before. The stench is unbearable. It’s obvious people are using the yards of abandoned homes as dumping grounds.

Now, the good news. McLeod Street, near Mill Street and the railroad tracks, was a disaster about a month ago, littered with clothes, mattresses, trash, and even a tombstone. But today it’s much cleaner. It appears as if the area was cleaned up, and since then a few tires and other items have been dumped.
