This bill of the day would provide an exemption in teacher qualifications for licensure to teachers who participated in some non-traditional routes.
SB 2021, authored by Senator Angela Hill would amend code section 37-3-2 to include teachers enrolled in the Teach Mississippi Institute Program for teacher preparation before July 1, 2014.
The bill reads:
AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 37-3-2, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REVISE THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR TEACHER CERTIFICATION TO ALLOW AN EXEMPTION FOR LICENSURE THROUGH THE APPROVED PROGRAM AND NONTRADITIONAL TEACHING ROUTES FOR PERSONS WHO WERE ACTIVELY ENROLLED IN AN APPROVED TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM OR ACCEPTED TOAND WERE ACTIVELY ENROLLED IN THE TEACH MISSISSIPPI INSTITUTE PROGRAM FOR TEACHER PREPARATION BEFORE JULY 1, 2014; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
The would be effective upon passage and was referred to the Education Committee.
