Congressman Trent Kelly touts optimism – basis for new ad

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 30, 2018

Earlier this month, Republican Congressman Trent Kelly’s job was to get the home crowd fired up for President Donald J. Trump at his rally held in Desoto County.

Congressman Kelly’s mission on stage was to convey to those in attendance and those watching from around the country the sense of optimism that is being mirrored back from the constituents of the First Congressional District about the direction of the country under President Donald Trump. The crowd of more than 13,000 expressed their excitement about the direction of this great nation and Congressman Kelly helped get them hyped up.

The appearance in Desoto County gave rise to what is essentially his closing argument to voters for re-election this November 6.

“We are the greatest nation in the world and I’m proud of the optimism that is growing in this country. America has the greatest fighting forces in the world and we plan to keep it that way with meaningful funding that is going to put more planes in the air, ships at sea, and tanks on the ground. Our men and women in uniform deserve nothing less than the best to protect us at home and across the globe.”

Kelly was elected in a special election in 2015 to replace the late Rep. Alan Nunnelee. He currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Committee on Agriculture, and he is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Investigations, Oversight and Regulations for the House Small Business Committee.
