New Notre Dame coach Kelly is the anti-Weis
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Locally, new Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly has been described as a charming, engaging, attention-to-detail guy trying to change the culture of Fighting Irish football.
Nationally, he’s the anti-Weis.
While there’s no doubt that Kelly’s style is much different from that of former coach Charlie Weis, in interviews with Sports Illustrated, ESPN.com and the Associated Press, Kelly’s world view of Notre Dame football comes across as a tacit, but still pointed, rebuke of Weis’ NFL mentality that clearly marked his tenure in South Bend.
