Brantley is also a second-generation Gator, following the path of his parents, John and Karen. He spent many of his Saturdays at the Swamp talking football with his father, a quarterback for Florida in the late 1970s and now the football coach at Trinity Catholic.

“It’s neat to see your son run out there with your number on. That’s special in itself,” says his father, who watched many of his son’s spring practices after a successful recovery from recent prostate cancer surgery.
