Shackelford, a 6-foot-1, 230-pound sophomore, is behind senior Jonathan Cornell at middle linebacker. But he has the ability to play all three linebacker spots.

He made 20 tackles as a true freshman last season, including two for a loss, despite being hobbled for much of the season by a sprained ankle.
