LSU’s Les MIles has running game on his brain
BATON ROUGE – It is getting more and more obvious that LSU coach Les Miles was not happy with his running game last season that averaged 122.7 yards a game for 90th in the nation out of 120 upper division schools and 11th in the Southeastern Conference out of 12 schools.
Last season was Miles’ first of five at LSU that his rushing attack fell below 150 yards a game and did not finish among the top four in the SEC. Since finishing second in the SEC and 11th nationally in rushing in LSU’s national championship 2007 season with 214 yards a game, the Tigers fell to fourth in the SEC and 43rd nationally in rushing in 2008 with 166.8 yards a game to last year’s lowly total, which was LSU’s worst since the 4-7 1999 season when it rushed for 82.5 yards a game.
