Lane Kiffin has had a tumultuous first few weeks at USC
Now that head coach Lane Kiffin and assistant Ed Orgeron have taken their questionable recruiting practices with them to USC, they have resorted to begging for money.
According to The Orange County Register, Orgeron sent an e-mail out to alumni and other boosters asking for a $200 donation to join the Trojan Club in order to help out their recruiting efforts. The newspaper got a copy of the e-mail, which read in part:
“Recruiting is crucial to USC’s success. It takes a budget of $1 million annually to cover our recruiting costs. You can help by joining the Trojan Club. A membership in the Trojan Club directly benefits our recruiting budget. It is easy to join- you can choose to pay for your Trojan Club membership of $200 in annual, semi-annual or $50 quarterly installments.”
Will more money mean fewer NCAA secondary violations, or even an ability to know the NCAA rules? Earlier this week, the Tennessee Rivals Web site accused Kiffin of a recruiting violation at USC for allegedly picking a recruit up in a limo.
