Brown, Saban steered struggling programs back to national glory
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds remembers walking to the podium for Mack Brown’s first press conference after being named head football coach.
Dodds was a little nervous.
He already had hired two football coaches in David McWilliams and John Mackovic. Neither worked out.
Dodds was watching Brown and wondering if he was the right choice when Brown paused for a moment and stopped in front of a bystander.
That’s the moment Dodds knew Brown was going to be successful.
