Why it helps: The Gators kept two All-Americans (Tebow, Spikes) and likely will lose another (WR/TB Percy Harvin) by the end of the day. The entire defense returns and the staff is excited about the development of speedy TBs Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey to make up for Harvin’s departure. A bigger concern: Who becomes the team’s go-to receiver? Louis Murphy was vastly underrated, but freshman burner Deonte Thompson could emerge. Bottom line: Gators have Tebow; slot them at preseason No. 1.
