Nutt defying bowl history

DALLAS – It’s been a great run to Big D for Ole Miss, but the chances for a Cotton Bowl win over Texas Tech don’t look too good if you look at the percentages.

Rebels coach Houston Nutt is second among SEC coaches with nine bowl bids, including this season’s Cotton Bowl bid, but is 2-5 bowl games.
He did not coach the ’07 Arkansas team that played in the Cotton Bowl.
Nutt discussed the lack of postseason success with his staff not long after it was assembled at Ole Miss.
“That’s one of the things we told our staff when they got here. Let’s do better in bowl games,” Nutt said.
Nutt attributes the poor record to a number of things – lengthy layoffs, disappointment over bowl placement and quality of opposition.
