OXFORD — After a week at home with family and friends to celebrate the holidays, Ole Miss players and coaches will arrive today in Dallas for their final week of preparation for the Jan. 2 Cotton Bowl against No. 8 Texas Tech.

Everyone is supposed to be at the team hotel by 5 p.m. Coach Houston Nutt said most players had arranged to car-pool with other members of the team, though some from far away – like California and Florida – were flying to Dallas.

The NCAA allows Ole Miss to reimburse players for travel, which is common for bowl games.

“The biggest thing is we want them to be safe,” Nutt said. “This is going to be a really fun week for the players, especially because it’s their first time to experience something like this.”

Ole Miss (8-4) will start practice on Saturday, with an 11:30 a.m. workout scheduled at SMU’s Ford Stadium.

Winter weather in north Texas can vary from snow to 70-degree temperatures. In that regard, Ole Miss looks like it’s going to be fortunate. The early forecast shows mostly sunny skies and high temperatures of about 60 degrees all during the week, including game day on Friday.
