Auburn needs a Saban-like dominant personality at head coach
While the merry-go-round that is the Auburn coaching search continues (hopefully Jay Jacobs is collecting frequent-flyer miles), one thing is clear.
Auburn needs to find its own version of “the most powerful coach in college football.”
Auburn needs to find a coach with the personality to do what Nick Saban has done at Alabama, what Mark Richt and Urban Meyer and Bobby Petrino and most of the best coaches in college football have always done: Force everyone else in the athletic department to take a back seat to their being there.
Auburn fans don’t want to hear this, but Auburn at the end of 2008 is not really that different from Alabama at the end of 2006 – at least when it comes to the question of who is in charge.
