PARRISH ALFORD:Nutt quickly turns the tables on his state rival
OXFORD – Welcome, Houston, to the rival game.
This wasn’t something Houston Nutt experienced as head coach at Arkansas. There was no every-other-year trip to Jonesboro.
There is a lot of passion in Arkansas, but it’s all directed to the Razorbacks.
There’s shared passion over here. Sometimes that has its own problems, as Ed Orgeron realized last year and Sylvester Croom will this year. I do not wish to imply that the MSU coach will be fired, but in this state there’s always an eye on what the other school is doing.
The success at one intensifies soul-searching at the other, especially if things aren’t peachy at the other and you’re on the back end of a 45-0 score in this game.
It happened a year ago at Ole Miss. The score was closer, but the season was a wash and the game had that fourth-and-1 thing.
