The Players Speak – MSU baseball players
STARKVILLE – As expected, Mississippi State players had mixed emotions on the announcing of John Cohen as their new head coach. And not in a positive-negative way either.
All of the current players were recruited by and played for former MSU skipper Ron Polk. The players were also full of support for MSU assistant coach Tommy Raffo and the possibility of Raffo replacing Polk.
But there is also a level of excitement with anything new.
“I have always thought a lot about Coach Raffo and my other coaches,” said Bulldog rising senior pitcher Chad Crosswhite. “I haven’t talk to Coach Polk and I am sure it is tough on him. That part of this deal is hard and will be hard.
“But coaching is a business and I think it will be a good change. It is hard not get excited about Coach Cohen and he will be good for our program.”
Like every summer, several Diamond Dogs were busy get ready to start their summer baseball season.
With that scenario, some players closer to Starkville were quicker to hear the news. Other en route to summer baseball leagues far from Starkville didn’t hear the news until today.
