Mississippi lawmakers give mixed reviews to State of the State

…Rep. Becky Currie, R-Brookhaven, said she was cool toward the idea of swapping a gas tax increase for some other tax cut. She said she’d rather consider using money that BP PLC is paying the state to settle economic damages created by the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill….
…Sen. John Horhn, D-Jackson, proposes removing the Confederate battle emblem that has been on the Mississippi state flag since 1894. “I was disappointed that the governor did not address the flag issue one way or the other,” Horhn said.
