WDAM in Hattiesburg reported that USM President Rodney Bennett ordered that the flag be removed from campus and replaced with the American flag Wednesday morning.
David Tisdale, a Senior Writer for the University’s Communications Department would not confirm to WDAM if the removal of the flag was temporary or permanent, the station reported.
Tisdale told WDAM that a statement would be officially released later Wednesday afternoon.
